The "stúdentspróf" (upper secondary school - leaving examination) is required for admission to university undergraduate studies in Iceland. Studies for the "stúdentspróf" take four years (age 16-20) and are open to anyone who has completed the ten years of compulsory school.
Examinations, certificates and diplomas from EU member states and the EFTA countries valid for admission to higher education in these states are recognised in Iceland for the purpose of admission to university studies.
A certified BA or BS degree is required to pursue postgraduate studies.
